Cut Resistant Gloves - Kevlar and Mechanical
Safety gloves come in many styles and types, specifically engineered for a wide variety of applications. Cut protection is one of the most popular types of safety gloves, made from Kevlar, Dyneema or other high performance materials. In this category of cut resistant gloves you'll find mechanical hand protection rated with four kinds of performance testing: (1) Abrasion Resistant (2) Cut Resistant (3) Tear Resistant (4) Puncture Resistant.
The European EN388 standard is widely used and was developed to help select appropriate hand protection for practically any task, and gloves in this category will usually carry a EN388 compliance number. You'll find the EN388 symbol, along with four numbers that represent the ratings on a scale from 1 to 5 for each of the four types of resistance for which the gloves are tested (abrasion, cut, tear, puncture). These cut resistant gloves will also typically meet the ANSI standard with a cut level designation from "1" (least resistant) to "5" (most resistant).
