Cut Resistant Gloves
Cut Resistant Gloves - ANSI A1 to A7 Rated for Mechanical Hand Protection
Cut resistant gloves use high-performance fiber technology — including Kevlar® (DuPont's para-aramid fiber), Dyneema® and Tuffalene® UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibers), KorPlex™ (Majestic Glove's proprietary cut-resistant fiber blend), and engineered synthetic composites — to create a shell that resists being cut by sharp edges, blades, glass, sheet metal, and similar hazards encountered in industrial and manufacturing work. The knit construction of most cut-resistant shells uses these fibers as a yarn, seamlessly knit into a glove form that is then typically paired with a palm coating — polyurethane, nitrile, foam nitrile, latex, or crinkle latex — that provides grip and additional abrasion resistance while the cut-resistant liner provides protection.
Cut resistance is rated under the current ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 standard using a cut level scale from A1 (lightest cut resistance, minimum 200g cut force) through A9 (heaviest, 6000g+). This collection covers ANSI A1 through A7. The ANSI level required for your application is determined by your site's specific hazard assessment — light assembly might require only A1–A2; general metalwork, stamping, and sheet metal handling typically calls for A3–A4; heavy glass handling, wire cutting, or high-laceration-risk operations generally require A5–A7. Heavier ANSI levels typically use higher-gauge fiber counts or multiple fiber types and command higher prices, so matching cut level to the actual hazard (rather than over-specifying) is important for both safety and cost efficiency.
Many styles also carry concurrent EN388 (European standard for mechanical risk gloves) ratings published alongside ANSI levels for international compliance reference. Some styles in this collection additionally carry ANSI/ISEA 138 Impact Level 1 ratings for combined cut and impact protection, and several Majestic FR/Kevlar styles (such as the 1555WRK) also provide flame resistance for combined arc flash and cut hazard environments. The collection includes PIP (42 styles, the largest selection), Majestic Glove (WatchDog and Cut-Less lines in A2–A7, plus FR Kevlar/goatskin), Portwest (including impact-rated styles), Global Glove (Samurai Glove Tuffalene UHMWPE and PUG-13 series), and Radians. Use the filters to sort by ANSI cut level, brand, palm coating, and color.

Cut Resistant Gloves — Frequently Asked Questions
The ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 cut resistance scale runs from A1 (minimum 200g blade cut force, lightest protection) through A9 (6000g+, highest). This collection stocks A1 through A7. General guidance: A1–A2 — light assembly, inspection, general material handling with minimal cut risk. A3 — moderate cut risk, glass cutting, metal stamping. A4 — higher cut risk, sheet metal work, sheet glass handling, most general metalwork. A5 — automotive assembly, wire processing, higher-laceration-risk tasks. A6–A7 — heavy glass, sharp steel edge handling, operations with high-cut-severity risk. The correct level must be determined by a site-specific hazard assessment — under-specifying is a safety risk, while over-specifying increases cost without commensurate benefit. Use the ANSI Certified filter to narrow to the specific level needed.
These are three distinct high-performance fiber types used in cut-resistant shell construction, each with different strength, weight, and comfort characteristics. Kevlar® (para-aramid fiber, DuPont) is a well-established cut and heat-resistant fiber with excellent strength, used in many high-protection industrial gloves and also in FR (flame resistant) glove constructions. Dyneema® is an UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) brand known for an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio, making it one of the strongest fibers by weight available — lighter and often more comfortable at equivalent cut levels than Kevlar. Tuffalene® (Global Glove's branded UHMWPE fiber) and KorPlex™ (Majestic's proprietary blend) are fiber system brands built on similar UHMWPE technology, engineered for seamless knit glove construction. The practical difference for buyers: UHMWPE-based fibers are often lighter and more comfortable at moderate cut levels (A2–A4); Kevlar tends to appear at higher cut levels (A4–A6+) and in combined heat/FR applications.
ANSI/ISEA 105 is the US standard for hand protection classification, maintained by the International Safety Equipment Association. Cut resistance is now rated on an A1–A9 scale using the TDM-100 blade test method. EN388 is the European standard for protective gloves against mechanical risks — gloves tested under EN388 receive a four-number code (e.g. 4543) representing ratings for abrasion, cut (blade test), tear, and puncture on scales of 0–4 or 0–5. Many gloves sold in the US carry both ratings for customers with multinational operations or procurement requirements. The EN388 scale referenced on older product descriptions used a "1 to 5" cut scale — the current ANSI A1–A9 scale is the operative US standard and is the one shown in the ANSI Certified filter on this page.
Yes — the Majestic 1555WRK is an FR, ANSI A4 Cut Level glove with a Kevlar® lining inside a goatskin exterior, meeting both ANSI Cut Level A4 and EN Cut Level 5 protection as well as providing flame resistance suitable for combined arc flash/flame and cut-hazard environments (such as electrical utility work, welding adjacent tasks, and oil and gas production). The Kevlar lining provides the cut resistance while also contributing to the FR performance of the overall glove. For broader FR glove options, see the FR Gloves category.
Safety Smart Gear stocks cut resistant gloves from PIP (42+ styles including the ProCoat PVC series and wide range of knit cut-resistant gloves across A1–A7); Majestic Glove (WatchDog and Cut-Less series in A2–A7, foam nitrile, polyurethane, sandy nitrile, crinkle latex, and winter-lined options, plus FR A4 Kevlar goatskin); Portwest (including the A721 Impact 13 with combined impact and nitrile palm); Global Glove (Samurai Glove Tuffalene UHMWPE series in A2–A3, PUG-13 polyurethane anti-static); and Radians. The collection spans 97 products, XXS through 3XL sizing on select styles.
