Work Bib Overalls - Denim & Duck Canvas Styles

Bib overalls are bib-and-trouser garments worn over a shirt — they cover the legs and torso with shoulder straps, but leave the arms uncovered. Coveralls are full one-piece suits with sleeves, fully enclosing the arms, legs, chest, and back as the primary outer layer rather than something worn over other clothing. Bib overalls eliminate a waistband, which is more comfortable for bending and squatting, and allow easier layering changes as temperatures shift throughout the day. Coveralls provide more complete protection from dirt, sparks, and debris since the arms are also covered.

Canvas is stiffer initially but breaks in over time and offers superior abrasion resistance and (often) better weather resistance when treated. If you're working in chillier outdoor conditions, the extra weight of duck canvas also provides some additional warmth compared to denim.

Knee pad compatibility is especially valuable for flooring, tile, framing, and other kneeling-intensive trades.

Bib overall sizing is typically based on chest and inseam measurements, with most styles using elastic adjustable shoulder straps that require minimal fine-tuning once set. Since bib overalls are designed to be worn over a shirt (and often a jacket or sweatshirt in cold weather), they generally fit looser through the torso than pants alone — this is intentional and shouldn't be mistaken for an incorrect size. Check elastic shoulder straps periodically for wear, as repeated washing and drying cycles can reduce their elasticity over time, requiring replacement of the strap hardware eventually on heavily used pairs.
