Gear Bags
Gear Bags - Turnout, Duffle & Tactical Bags for Fire, EMS & Police
Firefighters, EMS personnel, and law enforcement officers need gear storage that can keep up with the demands of the job — protecting expensive turnout gear, organizing tools and equipment, and standing up to repeated exposure to moisture, grease, and abrasion. Our gear bag collection is built around OK-1 bags constructed from 600 denier PU-coated polyester duck fabric with YKK zippers, double-stitched stress points, reinforced seams, and heavy-duty hardware — designed to be water, grease, and oil resistant for years of station and apparatus use.
Gear Bags — Turnout, Duffle & Tactical Bags, EMS & Police
Our collection includes three primary bag categories, each suited to different needs:
- Turnout Gear Bags — designed specifically to carry a complete set of turnout gear: helmet, bunker coat, bunker pants, and boots. Most feature a large clamshell main compartment, a dedicated zippered helmet pocket, hook-and-loop air vent flaps for odor control and drying, and multiple exterior handles for quick loading and unloading from any angle.
- Duffle Bags — versatile general-purpose bags for station use, travel, and equipment transport. Available in standard and wheeled configurations for heavy loads, with reinforced bottoms and padded shoulder straps for comfortable carrying.
- Tactical Bags — designed for law enforcement and specialized response teams who need to carry tools, breathing apparatus, or rescue equipment. Built from rugged materials with multiple compartments, pockets, and webbing for attaching additional pouches.
Many bags in this collection can be custom printed with your department's logo, name, or insignia — choose a pre-printed firefighter or police design, or a logo-ready bag for custom embroidery or printing. Contact us for large-quantity department pricing on custom orders. Use the filters on this page to sort by bag type, capacity, wheeled vs. non-wheeled, and brand.

Gear Bags — Frequently Asked Questions
A turnout gear bag is purpose-built around the specific dimensions and storage needs of firefighter turnout gear — a large clamshell compartment fits a full bunker coat and pants set, a dedicated zippered side pocket holds a helmet or SCBA mask, and hook-and-loop vent flaps allow airflow to help gear dry and reduce odor buildup between calls.
A general duffle bag is a more versatile, single-compartment design suited to station use, travel, or transporting tools and personal items. While a duffle can technically hold turnout gear, it lacks the dedicated helmet pocket, ventilation features, and reinforced compartment structure that keep turnout gear organized and properly ventilated.
Denier measures the thickness and durability of the fabric fibers — 600 denier is a heavy-duty weight commonly used in work bags, balancing durability with manageable weight (lighter than 1000D, more durable than typical 300–420D consumer luggage). The PU (polyurethane) coating applied to the polyester duck fabric makes the material resistant to water, grease, and oil — critical for bags that will be stored on apparatus, set down on wet ground, or exposed to fuel and hydraulic fluid at scene locations.
Combined with YKK zippers (a recognized standard for zipper durability and smooth operation under heavy use) and double-stitched stress points at handles and seams, this construction is designed to withstand years of repeated loading, unloading, and exposure to harsh conditions.
Wheeled gear bags are recommended when the bag will regularly be loaded with heavy gear (full turnout sets, multiple tool kits) and transported across longer distances — parking lots, airport terminals for travel to training, or between apparatus bays at larger stations. The wheels and telescoping handle reduce strain on the back and shoulders for heavy, repeated transport.
Standard carry bags (with shoulder straps and top handles) are preferred when the bag needs to be carried over uneven terrain, lifted directly into apparatus compartments, or stowed in tight spaces where wheels and rigid frames don't fit well. For most individual firefighters storing a single turnout set at the station, a standard carry bag with a padded shoulder strap is typically sufficient and more versatile.
Yes. Many gear bags in this collection are available as logo-ready options that can be custom printed or embroidered with your department's logo, name, rank, or insignia. Pre-printed firefighter and police designs are also available off-the-shelf for individual purchase. For departments ordering multiple bags, contact us to discuss volume pricing and custom printing options — bulk orders with consistent department branding typically receive preferential pricing.
PU-coated polyester gear bags can typically be wiped down with a damp cloth and mild soap for routine cleaning. For bags exposed to grease, oil, or contaminants at scene locations, a stronger degreasing solution may be needed — test on a small area first to ensure it doesn't affect the PU coating. Allow the bag to fully air dry, especially if turnout gear was stored damp, to prevent mold or odor buildup; this is why hook-and-loop vent flaps are a valuable feature for active turnout bags. Avoid machine washing or high-heat drying, which can damage the PU coating, zippers, and reinforced stitching.
