Women's Flame Resistant (FR) Clothing - NFPA 70E & Arc Rated

NFPA 70E Section 130.7(C)(9)(e) requires arc-rated apparel to fit properly and not interfere with the work task. Men's or unisex FR garments worn on women frequently create coverage gaps at the wrists, waist, and ankles — areas where excess fabric bunches up and can expose skin to thermal hazards. Proper fit is a compliance requirement, not just a comfort preference. Women's-cut FR garments are designed to provide appropriate coverage and mobility without the hazards of poor fit.

Yes. Women's FR garments are tested and certified to the same standards as their men's counterparts — NFPA 70E (ASTM F1506), NFPA 2112, and ASTM F1959 for arc rating. The arc rating (ATPV or EBT in cal/cm²) and certification labels on a women's-cut FR shirt or coverall carry the same regulatory weight as the equivalent men's style. Care instructions are the same across all FR garments: machine wash warm (up to 140°F), standard laundry detergent only. Do not use bleach, hydrogen peroxide, fabric softeners, or starch — these degrade FR protection on both inherent and treated fabrics. Tumble dry low or air dry. Remove all flammable soils (oil, grease) before returning garments to service. Always follow the care label on the specific garment.
