Unlike standard high visibility safety vests, electricians safety vests are made from flame resistant material. Electricians safety vests are made from flame resistant treated cotton, modified acrylic or Nomex. The visibility standards can vary on these vests because some materials, such as Nomex or FR treated cotton can not hold the dyes required in order to sustain the high visibility colors required to meet ANSI standards. In these cases the importance of the vest being flame retardant outweighs the visibility requirement. Mod-acrylic electricians safety vests can hold the colors required to meet ANSI standards but are not suitable under all FR requirements.
