Class E is not a standalone visibility level; it is designed to be paired with a Class 3 upper garment (rain jacket, vest, or shirt). When a Class 3 upper garment is worn together with Class E lower-body garment, the combination achieves full-body ANSI/ISEA 107 Type R Class 3 compliance — the highest level required for workers near high-speed roadways under OSHA and MUTCD standards.

Rain pants vs. bib rain pants — which do you need? Standard Class E rain pants have a waistband and are worn like regular trousers over work pants. Bib rain pants have shoulder straps that extend over the torso, providing better coverage at the waist and preventing water entry at the waistband — preferred for workers in heavy sustained rain or standing water. Both meet Class E requirements.
