Ergonomic Supports - Back Braces, Knee Pads & Wrist Supports
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) — conditions affecting nerves, tendons, muscles, and supporting structures of the body — are among the most common and most preventable workplace injuries. They typically result from prolonged or repeated exertion: frequent heavy lifting, sustained awkward postures, repetitive motion, or exposure to tool vibration. Ergonomic supports don't eliminate these risk factors, but they reduce strain on key areas of the body and lower the cumulative load that leads to chronic injury over time.
Our ergonomic collection covers the most common injury-prevention needs:
- Back Braces & Lumbar Support — elastic body supports with built-in lumbar stays, often featuring detachable, adjustable suspenders to prevent slippage during lifting tasks. Designed to provide additional core support during repetitive lifting and bending.
- Knee Pads — available in gel-injected EVA foam (cushioned comfort for flat surfaces), hard cap contoured designs (abrasion-resistant, allows side-to-side movement and sliding across surfaces), and lightweight foam pads (flexible protection for occasional kneeling). NIOSH identifies carpet layers, tile setters, and floor layers as particularly at risk for knee injuries from frequent kneeling.
- Wrist Supports — designed to keep the wrist in a neutral position and limit harmful flexion and extension, helping prevent carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis from repetitive wrist motion. Available in ambidextrous, left-hand, right-hand, and reversible designs.
- Anti-Vibration & Support Gloves — palm padding that absorbs vibration from power tools, helping prevent Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), along with customizable support gloves that combine wrist stabilization with grip comfort.
Brands in this collection include OccuNomix, Blaklader, and OK-1. Use the filters on this page to sort by product type, brand, and size. For hand protection combining cut resistance with ergonomic comfort, see our Work Gloves collection.

Ergonomic Supports — Frequently Asked Questions
Back braces with built-in lumbar stays provide additional core support and can help remind workers to maintain proper lifting posture, which reduces strain during repeated lifting and bending tasks. They work best as one part of an overall injury prevention approach — alongside proper lifting technique, mechanical lifting aids where available, and reasonable load limits — rather than as a standalone solution that allows unsafe lifting habits. A back brace is most effective for workers who already use correct lifting form and want additional support during physically demanding shifts, not as a substitute for training and safe work practices.
Gel-injected EVA foam knee pads provide cushioned, flat-surface comfort — ideal for tasks like flooring or tile work where you're kneeling in a relatively stationary position on a flat surface for extended periods. Hard cap contoured knee pads use an abrasion-resistant outer shell that allows easier side-to-side rolling and sliding across surfaces, making them better suited to tasks requiring frequent repositioning or movement while kneeling, such as carpentry or general construction. Choose gel pads for stationary comfort on flat surfaces and hard cap pads for mobility and abrasion resistance during active kneeling work.
Wrist supports work like external ligaments, helping keep the wrist in a neutral position and limiting the downward (flexion) and upward (extension) movement that narrows the carpal tunnel and compresses the median nerve. This reduces the cumulative strain associated with repetitive wrist motion — a primary cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. Look for supports with thumb loops, which help keep the brace correctly positioned during movement, and choose a closure type (Velcro/hook-and-loop) durable enough for your task — heavier jobs benefit from more secure closures that won't require constant readjustment, which can itself become a distraction and minor safety issue.
Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is a cumulative condition caused by prolonged exposure to vibration from power tools — jackhammers, grinders, impact wrenches — leading to numbness, tingling, and reduced grip strength over time. Anti-vibration gloves use gel, foam, or air-cell padding integrated into the palm and fingers to absorb and dampen vibration before it transfers fully into the hand and arm. Workers who regularly use high-vibration tools should select gloves specifically designed and tested for vibration dampening rather than relying on general work glove padding, which isn't engineered for this specific purpose.
Back braces are typically sized by waist measurement, with adjustable straps and hook-and-loop closures providing some flexibility within each size range — check the manufacturer's size chart and measure at the point where the brace will actually sit during use. Wrist supports are generally sized by wrist circumference or offered in a one-size-fits-most adjustable design; many are also available specifically for left hand, right hand, or as ambidextrous/reversible options, so confirm which configuration matches your needs before ordering. A support that's too loose won't provide effective stabilization, while one that's too tight can restrict circulation and movement.
