FR Rain Gear - Arc Rated & Flame Resistant Wet Weather Apparel

Standard rain gear fails in arc flash and flash fire environments. PVC, polyester, and nylon rainwear melts and bonds to skin at arc flash temperatures — making standard waterproof outerwear one of the most dangerous garments a worker can wear in an energized environment. Flame resistant rain gear is engineered to solve this: combining certified waterproof construction with arc-rated or flash-fire-rated FR fabrics that self-extinguish, resist ignition, and never melt or drip. For utility linemen, pipeline workers, and anyone required to work outdoors in wet conditions under NFPA 70E or NFPA 2112 compliance, FR rainwear is a non-negotiable safety requirement.

FR rain gear is governed by two distinct ASTM standards, each addressing a different hazard type:

  • ASTM F1891Arc and Flame Resistant Rainwear. This is the standard for workers exposed to electric arc flash hazards in wet conditions. Garments must not ignite, melt, or drip when exposed to arc flash energy, and carry a documented arc rating (ATPV in cal/cm²). Required for NFPA 70E compliance in outdoor wet environments.
  • ASTM F2733Flame Resistant Rainwear for Flash Fire Hazards. This standard covers workers simultaneously exposed to wet weather and hydrocarbon or petrochemical flash fire hazards — oil and gas field workers, pipeline crews, and refinery personnel working outdoors in rain. It requires garments to provide a predicted body burn of 40% or less in flash fire testing.

Many garments in our collection carry dual certification to both ASTM F1891 and ASTM F2733, making them suitable for workers who face both arc flash and flash fire hazards outdoors. Hi-vis styles certified to ANSI/ISEA 107-2015 Class 2 and Class 3 are available for linemen, road construction crews, and utility workers requiring simultaneous arc flash protection, rain protection, and roadway visibility compliance — all in a single garment. Styles include FR rain jackets, FR rain coats, FR rain pants, FR rain bib overalls, and complete FR rain suits. Arc ratings range from 8.5 to 18.5+ cal/cm² (NFPA 70E CAT 2). Brands include Neese Industries (Dura Arc I and II), OccuNomix, Lakeland, NASCO, and Portwest.

Use the filters on this page to sort by style, arc rating, hi-vis class, and brand. For cold-weather wet protection, pair FR rain gear over our FR jackets or FR hoodies as a mid-layer. For lower-body-only rain protection, see our FR rain pants and FR bib overalls.
