All in all, it's a good vest - with a few small annoyances.

Posted by Jason Rayne on May 21st 2021

I wear this vest 5-6 days a week, for 10-14hrs a day. I do a mixture of driving truck & manual labor at a construction company. As far as comfort goes, it's great. No complaints there. Looks good, too - which doesn't hurt anything. However, I have some issues with a few of the pockets, as well as the hook & loop. I'll get to that shortly. The right breast pocket with the pen holders is a great idea, but it's about a half inch too short to be able to easily close when I go to store my spiral flip-top notepad. I have to kinda shove the notepad down and stretch the pocket a bit to get a partial catch on the hook & loop. Minor annoyance, but I'd kill for another 1/2" - 1" of height on that particular pocket to keep my notepad secure when I'm leaning over. The pen holders on the outside of that pocket are a godsend, but a few of my higher quality mechanical pencils & pens currently struggle to easily clip in - the black strip of fabric at the top is a bit thick. This may resolve itself in time as I continue to break the vest in, but for now, it's another minor annoyance. No real complaints about sizing on the remaining pockets, they hold my gloves, larger notepad, etc, just fine. I absolutely LOVE the interior radio pocket, mainly because it actually fits my phone & case (Samsung Galaxy S21U in an Otterbox - it's a big boy). My only wish would be for a slightly thicker and/or more opaque fabric on the inside of that, as I've has some trouble with my touchscreen being activated from time to time when I'm moving about. My only major complaint... the hook and loop on the exterior pockets (phone/radio and iPad pockets are fine). There's not much of it used on each exterior pocket, and what is there is almost worthless. The lower cargo pockets are an absolute pain to line up well enough to catch, and I find them popping open constantly even if I take the time to line up the strips of hook & loop. I'm about to remove the existing hook and loop and replace it with something better, to be completely honest. Other than my minor quibbles, it's the best damn vest I've owned so far - and I'm highly considering buying another one.
